Project 6: New Courtyard Creates More Outdoor Living Space
in this Rocklin Stanford Ranch Home

You could barely see where the front door is of this house. Quite frankly, it looked like any other house in Stanford Ranch. The three trees’ roots were uplifting the lawn.

AFTER

The new walkway completely opens up the view of the front yard, while creating a functional yet beautiful path to the front door. By removing the trees, we are able to create a courtyard which increases the outdoor living space. Keeping the crape myrtle shrub provides an uneven-aged look, anchoring in the new plantings.

We borrow the view of the neighbor’s yard--its complementary colored foliage and shapes of trees and shrubs—this brings up everybody’s property values.

DURING CONSTRUCTION

AFTER

This project was built in late winter. We can work any day of the year, except for hard rain days! The curve of the Country Manor retaining walls sculpts the lawn and planter beds into pleasing shapes. Planted pots decrease the harshness of the hardscape.
